Family Fun!

Over the last two weeks, we have been reflecting on our Beano-tastic Summer Skool programme here at Creative Learning HQ. On the 2nd of August we celebrated the close of the project with our amazing Bash Street Summer Skool participants, their families and our fabulous tutors. Our Summer Skool departments shared their work with their family and friends and got to see all of the great work that was created at their very own Celebratory reception!

After a fabulous summer of Bash Street and celebrating the Beano’s 80th Birthday, here’s some information on our regular family events and activities that you can take part in at the museum. Our Family Space is open daily during regular opening hours for dress up, worksheets and reading materials. Discover your inner Dennis the Menace in our Beano-fied Family Space and celebrate all things Bash Street until the 21st of October!

Supporting Homestart Dundee’s Young Families.

Over the last year, the team have been working with Homestart Dundee, providing creative sessions to young families and supporting them to access and enjoy all that the museum has to offer. We initially worked with Homestart through our 2017 project The People’s Story, and we are delighted to be developing our work with this fantastic charity!

Homestart Dundee helps families with young children deal with the challenges they face. We support parents as they learn to cope, improve their confidence and build better lives for their children. – Homestart Website

This week sees Dundee burst to life for the UNESCO Design Parade and the Homestart young families group have been busy creating their parade display. As the museum celebrates 80 years of The Beano for Bash Streets Back at The McMenace, our young families chose comics for their parade theme. Don’t miss their fun red and black sculptures and flags and keep an eye out for us on Saturday! The UNESCO parade, which starts at 3pm at City Square, is not to be missed!
